Snowfall warning ended for Grande Prairie area

The snowfall warning has been cancelled.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Grande Prairie and a large portion of northwest Alberta.

Officials say areas which have already seen up to 10 cm fall can expect another 5-10 cm of snow through Friday and into Saturday morning.

Fire officials in Wembley have suggested travellers stay off Highway 43 between Grande Prairie and Beaverlodge due to very dangerous conditions.

The snowfall warning remains in effect for the following regions:

  • Co. of Grande Prairie near Beaverlodge Hythe and Demmitt
  • Co. of Grande Prairie near Grande Prairie and Wembley
  • Co. of Grande Prairie near Sexsmith and La Glace
  • M.D. of Greenview near DeBolt
  • M.D. of Greenview near Little Smoky
  • M.D. of Greenview near O’Brien Prov. Park and Big Mtn Creek
  • M.D. of Greenview near Sturgeon Lake
  • M.D. of Greenview near Valleyview and New Fish Creek
  • M.D. of Greenview near Wapiti and Shuttler Flats Rec. Area
