Western Alberta unemployment rate sits at 4.4 per cent in March

The region including Grande Prairie had an unemployment rate of 4.4 per cent in March, down 0.7 per cent from last month.

According to Statistics Canada, the region which spans from Banff to Peace River has been on a downward trend year over year in March since 2017, with a high of 9.9 per cent two years ago.

The Western Alberta region also has the lowest unemployment rate with equally sized regions, including Lethbridge, Red Deer and Fort McMurray.

The unemployment rate across Alberta is 7.2, with the Canadian average hovering at 6.1 per cent.
