Dream Home Lottery sales sagging behind 2018 totals

While 50/50 ticket sales are up in 2019, officials say the full price Rotary Dream Home Lottery ticket sales have fallen behind the final numbers from last year.

A lack of sales for the $100 priced tickets, which can land you a grand prize of a $1.4 million home in Carriage Estates, could be part of a larger economic indicator says Raffle Manager Kevin Hilgerts.

“Maybe people are spending money on cheaper 50/50 tickets, but at the end, we will probably come out the same and that’s good news.”

It is a far cry from 2017 when the 50/50 total got so high, they had to refund customers because they simply couldn’t by law print any more tickets.

However, Hilgers says it seems like it doesn’t matter the circumstances, Grande Prairie comes out in a big way in the end.

“When times are good, when times are not so good the community seems to rally around regardless. That’s really gratifying, not only for the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie but all the groups who get a part of the proceeds.”

The Early Bird Draw ends on April 2nd, with the full draw happening April 26th.
