City calls for external audit of Eastlink Centre finances

In light of an even bigger deficit than initially predicted, the city is calling an external audit to look over the Eastlink Centre’s finances.

Administration has already started an internal review, which they are providing bi-weekly updates on.

Due to a bookkeeping error, along with miscalculated revenues, the facility is forecasting a nearly $3 million deficit by December 31.

So far administration has been able to reduce spending between September and December by $400,000.

Some vacant management positions at the Eastlink Centre will also be left empty in an effort to save dollars.
