Under the city’s new snow removal policy, residential neighbourhoods can expect to see plows the day before their garbage pickup.
That means Swanavon, Highland Park, and Avondale will be getting cleared today.
Maintenance Operations Supervisor Brian Veitch says they were happy with the results of their trial period last winter.
“We decided to try to make it more predictable and more regular and changed the way we do it, and we found we could get through the city in pretty much a week; it might take a bit longer depending on the weather. We’re optimistic that the service is going to be much improved.”

Residents are asked to make sure their vehicles are off the road between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on their scheduled day.
