City awards more than $59K to arts and cultural groups

Twelve localĀ arts and culture groups have received money from the City of Grande Prairie. Through the latest round of Arts and Development Funding, $59,600 was given out.

The Grande Prairie Academy for the Edmonton Ballet Project received $3000 through the Major Project Fund. The remaining $56,600 was handed out to 11 different groups through the Festival Fund. That fund supports local non-profit groups and societies in hosting community events.

Grande Prairie and District Music Festival Association (Grande Prairie and District Music Festival)
Grande Prairie Hindu Association (Hindu Temple Diwali Celebration)
Grande Prairie Pride Society (Pride Festival)
ACFA Grande Prairie (21st Maple Sugar Festival)
Grande Prairie Singers (Festival of Carols)
Grande Prairie Highland Games Association (Grande Prairie Highland Games)
East Indian Cultural Association (Baisakhi Festival)
Native Counselling Services of Alberta (Indigenous People Celebration 2019)
Centre for Creative Arts (Alberta Culture Days)
Troyanda Society of Ukrainian Culture & Heritage (Vitaemo Festival)

Groups are able to submit applications for the next round of festival funding until October 1st. The deadline for major project funding is the first business day after January 1st. Applications can be found on the city’s website.
