People can now see what the Grande Prairie area currently looks like from the air. The City and County have joined forces to update their aerial photo database.
Photos were taken of the city, the hamlets of Clairmont and Bezanson, and the Towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith, Wembley and the Village of Hythe. The City says the photos were able to provide enough detail to see municipal infrastructure including roads, paved trails, light fixtures, culverts and manhole covers.
The aerial photos are used to help with planning, construction, land assessments, infrastructure design projects and real estate appraisals. They can also be used for flood risk management, infrastructure management, ground surface drainage, and emergency services operations.
