Record-breaking weekend for GPRC men’s indoor track team

It was a big weekend for members of the GPRC Wolves Men’s Indoor Track Team. Three new school track records were set at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference MacEwan Open on Saturday in Edmonton.

Miguel Macedo recorded a personal best time of 2:47.10 in the 1000 metre taking home 3rd place. He broke Hayden Hollowell’s 2012 record by three seconds. Next, Brandon Tufford won the men’s 600 meters with a time of 1:24.86 breaking Joren Manz’s 2013 record by one second.

Finally, in the 4 X 400-metre relay, the team of Tufford, Macedo, Brice Wilkes and Joel Manz finished second with a time of 3:45.67. That was good enough to take five seconds off the previous record set in 2011.

Overall the men finished third in team standings. They will now head to the Concordia Open in Edmonton on March 2nd.
