Garage, outbuilding destroyed by fire in County

A home in the Valhalla Centre area survived with only minor heat damage after a nearby garage and outbuilding caught fire. The County Regional Fire Service was called to the blaze on Range Road 94 near Township Road 744 around 10:40 a.m. Sunday.

When firefighters from the La Glace station first arrived, the outbuilding and single vehicle garage were fully engulfed in flames that were threatening the home nearby. The Beaverlodge and Wembley fire departments were called to help, and the fire was brought under control.

“The adjacent residence received minor radiant heat damage to the siding but was otherwise unaffected,” says Deputy Fire Chief Jason Nesbitt. “No one was injured as a result of the fire.”

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
