Council approves Northern Lights ASP

Businesses and Parks may be in the cards for land in the northeast part of the Grande Prairie. On December 17th, City Council approved the Northern Lights Area Structure Plan.

The city is planning to use the the land northeast of Lakeland and Crystal Lake Estates for long-term industrial use, as well as for recreation. The land was annexed into the city in 2016.

Area structure plans are meant to guide the city in long-term planning and development, combining current residential, agricultural and recreational use.

Plans for the ASP, which was originally called the Northeast Industrial Area Structure Plan started back in 2017.
