Chamber of Commerce digital signage project making progress

The city is looking at an amendment to the bylaw that deals with signage on public land.

For the past year or so the Grande Prairie of Chamber of Commerce has been trying with little success to get a digital sign erected somewhere on the bypass near the Centre 2000.

Chamber board chair Shawna Miller says the vision for the sign is twofold.

“We want to put it up as an opportunity for some of our smaller members to have an opportunity to advertise. It also gives us an opportunity to serve the community by tying it into the Amber Alert system, as well as if there are any emergency events happening around the city or the county.”

The bylaw amendment disallows privately owned signs on public land, but would still allow the chamber to work with the city on finding a suitable location for their digital sign.
