UPDATE: Travellers’ Advisory issued for heavy snowfall in Grande Prairie area

UPDATE: Alberta Transportation has issued a Traveller’s Advisory due to the snowfall warnings in place for western and northwestern Alberta. Drivers are encouraged to postpone any unnecessary highway travel.

A snowfall warning has been issued for the Grande Prairie – Beaverlodge – Valleyview region. A total of 10 to 15 centimetres of snow is expected, although isolated pockets of 20 centimetres are possible.

Environment Canada asks people to be prepared to adjust their driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for taillights ahead and be prepared to stop.
