UPDATE: Betty was adopted on Monday. The approximately 1 1/2-year-old Australorp will be joining a family of chickens, ducks, geese, and rabbits.
Anyone looking to add a chicken to their family may soon get the chance. The Grande Prairie Regional Animal Care Facility has recently put Betty up for adoption.
GPRACF said in a Facebook post on Monday that Betty was brought to the shelter as a stray after she was found roaming free in the city. They are not sure of her exact age or breed.
The shelter is looking to send her to a farm or an acreage but interested people living in the city can adopt if they provide proof of permit.
To look into giving Betty a new coop to call home, call the facility at 780-830-0199 or message them on facebook.
