Grande Prairie wildfire hazard back down to low

You can thank the rain for something: the wildfire hazard in the Grande Prairie Management Area is all the way back down to low.

Wildfire Information Officer Kelly Burke says the rain, along with cooler temperatures and shorter days means there’s less danger of a blaze starting up.

Despite that, wildfire season lasts until October 31st, and residents should still use caution when having a campfire or doing any burning.
