UPDATE: 116 Street reopens after serious crash

UPDATE #2: RCMP say 116 Street has reopened after a crash south of 132 Avenue this morning. Officers were called to the area around 6:30 a.m., and say a southbound truck crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a northbound vehicle head on. The man driving the northbound vehicle was taken by EMS to hospital with serious injuries.

The man driving the truck wasn’t injured. Mounties are looking into all possible contributing factors to the crash. It remains under investigation.

UPDATE: The City of Grande Prairie has called the crash “serious” and asks commercial truck drivers to avoid using Highway 43X, 116 Street and 132 Avenue.

The intersection near Bear Creek Golf Course is expected to be closed for several hours Monday. A two vehicle crash has been reported at 116 Street and 132 Avenue.

Grande Prairie RCMP say they are diverting traffic and delays of several hours are expected. Drivers are being asked to avoid the area.
