A public information session on the Wapiti Corridor Multi-Use Plan is being held tonight to help answer questions board members have been fielding over the past couple of weeks.
The plan is intended to be a vision for the Wapiti River Valley from Pipestone Creek to the Smoky River that both protects it and looks at current and future needs.
A petition is currently circulating among residents against the document, arguing it will have “detrimental effects” on residents’ use and enjoyment of land in the area.
The document was submitted to the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Resource Development back in December, but hasn’t had a response yet.
Anyone with questions or concerns is encouraged to attend tonight at 7 p.m. at Nitehawk Recreation Area.
