Nine people with warrants have been taken in to custody after a warrant ’round up’ in High Prairie. RCMP made the arrests Thursday night and say 21 charges were cleared, worth nearly $10,000 in fines.
Officials call it a proactive step on their part. They say they targeted repeat offenders for charges like failure to appear, assault and property crimes. One of the individuals taken in was a 33 year-old man with seven warrants our for his arrest who is also someone RCMP say is “known to be a repeat offender”
This was part of the “K” Division Crime Reduction Strategy. They say it is a “targeted, evidence based approach to policing” that works to address the root cause of crime.
