RCMP hoping for leads on anniversary of woman’s disappearance

On the 9th anniversary of her disappearance, Grande Prairie RCMP are hoping someone will come forward with information on Jody Hockett. At the age of 33, Hockett was last seen getting into a white vehicle outside of the York Hotel on February 22, 2009.

Constable Melanie McIntosh says local police want the community to know her missing persons case is still an active investigation.

“We do not stop looking for these missing people until we’ve found them. It never goes away, we’re always searching, and on the week of the anniversary we’re hoping it might possibly trigger a memory.”

Hockett is described as Caucasian and 5’5″ with blue eyes. At the time of her disappearance in 2009 she had dyed strawberry blonde hair and was wearing jeans, a tank top, a black zip-up sweatshirt with a hood, and high heeled shoes with fur on them.

McIntosh is urging anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to reach out to the Grande Prairie RCMP detachment. If uncomfortable reporting in person, Crime Stoppers can be called to remain anonymous.

“Someone here knows what happened to Jody and we’re just looking for people to come forward with information so we can continue to search… The family, of course, has been looking for her for years and we’d really like to be able to bring them some closure.”

Hockett may also go by the names “Jody Smith” “Jodi” or “Jessie”.
