UPDATE: The suspect in a standoff with police Friday is now facing charges of resisting arrest, operating a vehicle while being pursued by police, mischief, being unlawfully in a dwelling, endangering an animal and two traffic safety violations. 35 year old James Daniel Munro is still in custody with his next court date on August 6th.

A standoff between police and a 35 year old who had broken into a home ended with only a minor altercation Friday night.

The suspect allegedly fled on foot after Beaverlodge RCMP attempted to pull over a vehicle that was believed to be stolen.

The female resident of the house that was broken into was taken out safely, and then police were able to go inside and arrest the man.
