As expected, the wildfire hazard in the Grande Prairie Forest Area has been pushed back up to moderate. Wildfire Information Officer Melinda Paplawski says it will likely continue to increase, as it gets warmer over the next few days.
Residents are asked to keep this in mind as they enjoy the long weekend. Paplawski says they can take simple steps to prevent wilfires by being careful in forested areas, getting rid of debris from off-highway vehicles and making sure their campfires are fully put out.
If you see smoke in a forested area, call 3-10-FIRE.
