UPDATE: No injuries from house fire in Swanavon

UPDATE: The Grande Prairie Fire Department has confirmed that no one was injured during this morning’s house fire in Swanavon. A family of three was home when it broke out just before 6 a.m., but all escaped safely, along with their dog. The fire at the home in the 101st block of 93rd Ave started in the garage, which was fully engulfed by the time fire crews arrived. There was ammunition and a propane bottle involved, which explains the popping sound people heard. The fire was brought under control just after 7 a.m., although the building suffered extensive damage. Its cause is now under investigation.

Grande Prairie fire crews are currently responding to a house fire on 101st Street and 93 Avenue.

Surrounding homes are being evacuated.

Black smoke can be seen billowing from the Swanavon area.

We have a reporter on the scene and will update when we learn more.
