Six people are facing charges after breaking into a decoy vehicle set up by police. Grande Prairie RCMP are working with the General Investigative Section and the “K”Division Auto Theft Unit to bring the operation to the community. They recently completed a six week operation.

Officers have been placing a “bait vehicle” in strategic locations in hopes to combat property theft. The device is monitored and anyone caught in the stolen vehicle is charged.

In connection with the operation, 26 year old Jake Snow of Grande Prairie will appear in court on March 6th, 2017 for a charge of theft of a motor vehicle. 37 year old Amanda Kanyo of Grande Prairie is facing a charge of possession of stolen property over $5000. Kanyo will appear in court on March 1st.
