Bucket Bash at the Muskoseepi Skate Park hopes to educate about street sport safety

Grande Prairie Crime Prevention is hosting Bucket Bash at Muskoseepi Park this weekend, to promote safe practices for young bikers and skaters.

The Bucket Bash, which goes from 11-2 tomorrow will feature a competition at the Muskoseepi Skate Park.

Cindy Halbert with Crime Prevention says the competitors will demonstrate how to be safe while enjoying their sport.

“So they will have the proper gear. Helmets are the biggest thing, and we know that some of the other gear is appropriate for the smaller kids. So we just really want to encourage them that you can have lots of fun, but you can also have fun while you’re safe.”

Halbert says they will also be introducing their positive ticketing initiative tomorrow.

Positive tickets will be handed out to kids in the communities seen setting a good example this summer.

Those who receive one can then cash it in with Crime Prevention for a reward.
