UPDATE #2: Peace Wapiti School Division buses are running this afternoon but could be running late. Staff says every attempt will be made to return students home safely.
UPDATE: First Student Bus #219 in Spirit River has also been cancelled due to the freezing rain and icy road conditions. First Student Bus #217 will pick up students who ride both #217 and #219. Students will be dropped off at Rycroft Arena. Parents will have to pick their children up from the arena.
After a collision between a bus and car this morning near Holy Cross Catholic School, Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools have cancelled their afternoon Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten buses within the city limits. Due to road conditions, GPDCS would like parents to avoid driving on the roads as well.
They say the buses will run at noon to pick up the morning kids from their school. The buses will also run at 3:30 pm for all full day students and full day Kindergarten to get home.
Freezing rain warnings were issued early Thursday for the peace region by Environment Canada. They say the rain should end early in the afternoon.
