Intersection improvements may lead to delays for airport travelers

Officials with the Grande Prairie Airport are encouraging travelers to add an additional 30 minutes to their plans if they are departing from the airport over the next 2-3 months. Work has begun on a 20 million dollar summer capital program, which includes the installation of traffic lights and merge lanes at the Highway 43 and Airport road intersection. Speed limit reductions are being put into place in the construction area, and airport officials say you should leave earlier so that your travel plans are not affected by the work. Also part of the capital program is improvements to Runway 12/30, which includes making it an additional two thousand feet longer.
