Damp weather creates difficulties in the county

The damp weather this fall is making it more difficult for road maintenance. The County of Grande Prairie says mild temperatures are making challenges for road crews around the area. Public Works Director Dale Van Volkingburgh says the wet roads are creating a maintenance nightmare especially without drying or freezing up. He adds that these conditions make grading gravel roads difficult without causing damage. They are sending out workers as early as 3:00 am to get work done but as soon as the roads become soft, they need to pull the equipment to avoid damage. He says they are working to address the issue.
