New Arbour Hills road name takes another U-turn

A road that was originally going to be named after a school has had to switch yet again. The new St. John Paul II Junior Senior Catholic High School sits on the road in the new Arbour Hills neighourhood. After research, the city and developers are looking to call it Arbour Hills Boulevard. Developers with Prudential Lands found that the numbers for the homes and buildings would make sense for this stretch.

Before the school switched it’s name from Bishop Emile Grouard, the road was set to be named after it. After the switch, the longer name was not a good fit and it would not physically fit on a sign. The change to St. John Paul II came after the Catholic School Board and representatives of the Aboriginal Community met to discuss concerns of residential schools.

The developers started a conversation on a fix for the street with the city and came up with West Arbour Hills Boulevard. This name was brought up in hopes to not causing any addressing issues from the east side of the neighbourhood to the west. After looking into it further, the city and developers decided to have the road continue as Arbour Hills Boulevard from the east part of the neighbourhood through into the west.
