Joint Rec Plan almost ready

Two years ago the City and County of Grande Prairie began working together on a recreation master plan and it is nearing completion.

At the next separate city and county council meetings, the final approval could be given for the Joint Recreation Master Plan. If the approval goes through, the next step would be to select a group of people to support the plan going forward.

The plan is meant to guide both municipal governments to make choices on what recreation will look like in the region for the next ten years. It was created through various consultations that included surveys, interviews, open house events and meetings. Residents and businesses from the city, county, Town of Beaverlodge, Town of Sexsmith, Town of Wembley, Village of Hythe, and MD of Greenview were included in the process.

The final decision will be released at the council meetings on October 17th.
