A special weather statement has been issued for the Grande Prairie and Beaverlodge regions. Environment Canada says northwestern Alberta will see its first significant snowfall of the season tonight.

Rain is expected over much of the province, but cooler air in our region means it will changes to snow for parts of Peace River, Grande Prairie and Grande Cache. The snow is expected to start late this evening and last overnight.

Two centimetres is forecast to accumulate by Saturday morning. The white stuff will continue through Saturday, with less than five centimetres expected to build up. Snow should end by Saturday evening.
