There will be 18 not-for-profit organizations that will reap the benefits of a golf event held in July.
The 7th Annual KMSC Law Golf Event was held on the 23rd to 26th of July at the Grande Prairie Golf and Country Club and raked in over $128,000 in contributions and gift-in-kind.
Although their goal was to top the nearly $86,000 that was doled out last year, the proceeds from the event were just under $69,000 and still go to various community groups in the area.
To help, the event had celebrity golfer Alan McLean out for the four-day event. He provided help for the kids with a junior clinic.
The groups taking in some of the cash include the Grande Prairie YMCA, PACE, the Disabled Transportation Society and ANSO Collective & Education. The Grande Prairie & District SPCA, Grande Prairie Public School District Education Foundation, After Five Rotary Club and Wolverines Wheelchair Sports Association are also taking a cut of the proceeds. Funds will also go to the QE II Hospital Founation, Centre for Creative Arts, Special Olympics Grande Prairie, The Art Gallery of Grande Prairie, Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Grande Prairie, PARDS, Grande Prairie and District Catholic School Education Foundation, Grande Prairie Performing Arts Guild, the Suicide Prevention Resource Centre and the Grande Prairie & District Grief Support Association.
