Literacy program launches in Grande Prairie

A literacy program for children under 4 years old launches in Grande Prairie this month.

The Grande Prairie Rotary After Five Club will be making the Imagination Library accessible to children. This library program is used all across North America and has been around for around 21 years. Country music singer Dolly Parton founded the program through the Dollywood Foundation in 1995.

With the launch of the program locally, businesses and community members can sponsor a child to receive a new book monthly.

Past-president of the After Five Club Taj Johnson explains that although the literacy program is starting small, they would love to see it expand within 5 years.
