A serial robber who inadvertently turned himself in has been handed an eight year federal prison sentence. 41 year old Shane Wyatt Embree walked into the Grande Prairie RCMP detachment for a routine traffic matter in February, when he was recognized as a suspect in a vehicle theft case.
Further investigation led police to believe he was the masked man responsible for robbing six local liquor and convenience stores between October 9th and December 6th, 2015. Embree plead guilty to three robbery charges and one for wearing a disguise earlier this year.
His other charges have been stayed and his sentence will be less time served.
