The aquatic area at the Eastlink Centre is set to be closed for a few weeks.
The closure will allow for crews to complete major renovations. Work will begin next week on September 6th with the entirety of the aquatics area closed down until the September 24th.
The 50 metre pool will remain closed after that until October 22nd.
Some of the work includes installing panels around the aquatics area to reduce echo in the facility as well as standard maintenance on the water park area. This will include valves, pipes and pumps being checked.
This is the 5th year the Eastlink Centre has been open and with that milestone, Operations Manager Richard Fletcher says the shutdown has to be a bit longer than usual due to the scope of the maintenance.
The athletics, fitness area and field house all remain open during construction. The food court will also be accessible during regular business hours.
