Peace River Shark drafted into CWHL

A Peace River hockey player has been drafted into the Canadian Women’s Hockey League.

Cara Schlitz was picked by the Calgary Inferno in the sixth round of the draft Sunday in Toronto. The defenceman has played for the Peace River Sharks for the past five seasons, and has racked up a career total of 63 points and 84 penalty minutes. The 2015/2016 season was her best so far, with 10 goals and 8 assists.

The Inferno say Schlitz’s offensive style will be effective in the forward zone as well as on the blue line, calling the prospect a good addition to any team. She was the only eligible player from the Peace Country Female Hockey League.
