Grande Prairie teen joins U16 Team Alberta football team

A Grande Prairie teen will be representing the region in January at the U16 International Bowl. Graeme Alde was selected to the Team Alberta football squad after putting on a show at the Alberta Summer Games in Leduc on the Zone 8 team.

The 15 year old most recently played bantam football in Wembley but will be joining his older brother Brennan Alde on the St. Joe’s Celtics high school football team this upcoming year. Brennan played in the U16 international game last year as well.

His family is no stranger to the game of football.

“All of my brother’s [play football], it is a pretty big deal. My mom always pushed us and helped us do whatever we wanted. We all wanted to play football.”

Alde’s oldest brother Keenan also played on the Edmonton Huskies junior football team.

He says as a captain of his team right now he brings some strengths and plans to bring those to the provincial team.

“I’d like to think I bring a humble attitude. I make sure everyone is all in check.”

The U16 International Bowl usually has Team Alberta face another team from the United States.
