Junior high students from nine Peace Wapiti schools are competing in the Dave Bleile Track Meet today at Legion Field.
More than 30 years ago, Bleile was involved in organizing the County of Grande Prairie Track and Field meet.
That turned into the PWSD Track and Field meet in 1995 when the school divisions combined.
After he retired as a teacher in 2010, his colleagues named the event in his honour.

He can still be seen as a volunteer for the meet, which attracts more than 300 participants.
