Law Master finishes on top at Alberta Derby

Kentucky-bred Law Master was the winner of Alberta Derby this past weekend at Evergreen Park with one of the largest winnings in Peace Country pari-mutuel racing. Jockey Keishan Balgobin rode the gelding into a new track record of 1:44.92 with the owner Met Set Consulting pocketing almost $30,000 in purse money available.

The group associated with second place Access This lodged a complaint but after about 5 minutes, the steward’s decision was set on Law Master.

This win may be good enough to get the winner into the Canadian Derby on August 20th in Edmonton.

At the Grande Prairie Derby two races ago, Rico Walcott came in first atop Access This with Law Master and Balgobin coming in fifth.
