The City of Grande Prairie wants to put a spotlight on ending homelessness. Community Social Development and the Community Advisory Board are putting on a free event this Friday with information and interactive activities. It is put on to celebrate the progress that has been made to rid of homelessness in the city. Information on the steps being made to in the community to support people affected by homelessness will be highlighted.
Homeless Initiatives Supervisor Katherine Sheppard says that in the past two years 210 people have found housing with 93 per cent of those maintaining a home thanks to efforts from local initiatives.
The event will start at 11:30 am at the Montrose Cultural Centre.
