Fourteen downtown businesses set to get facelifts

The City of Grande Prairie’s Downtown Incentives Program will give fourteen businesses the opportunity for a facelift. The first round of applications for the Façade Improvement Grants were reviewed by a committee. The renovations on the businesses are set to begin this summer. The People’s Market was one of the successful applicants.

The grant program has downtown building owners and the city team up to make buildings look better, improve pedestrian access and the safety of the public.

The successful applicants receive matching funds up to a maximum of $50,000. There was funding of $540, 472 given out in the first round.

Economic Development Manager Brian Glavin says they hope other businesses downtown will see the upgrades and apply for the funding in the final quarter of the year.
