Three Grande Prairie athletes headed to Mixed Martial Arts World Championships

Three Grande Prairie Athletes are headed to Las Vegas to compete in the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation World championships. Kyle Francotti competing out of Champion Gym will be in the Heavyweight class. In 2014, the fighter was set to fight for a regional title but an MRI found that he had a brain tumor. Francotti went for surgery and which had him go from hardly being able to walk to tumor free 6 months after the surgery. Completely recovered, the MMA competitor was cleared by his neurosurgeon to fight again and will go onto the competition to represent Canada.

There will be another Champion Gym competitor joining Francotti in Vegas. Alexander Martinez will be heading to the competition after getting a silver medal at the IMMAF last year.

Warrior Strong athlete Jarrett Vornbrock will be representing the Canadian National Amateur MMA team in the 125 men’s division.

They will be competing in Las Vegas from July 5th to 7th 2016.
