Grande Prairie sends resources to Fort McMurray fire

The Peace region is sending resources to the fires in Fort McMurray. The Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership has sent RCMP officers and emergency management team personnel. More staff and equipment will be dispatched if asked for by the Provincial Operations Centre.

At the same time, GPREP is making sure enough resources stay in the area, as both the city and county have issued outdoor fire bans. For community members who want to help, donations of material goods are not being accepted as they could distract from higher priority needs. All donations should be monetary through the Red Cross.

The Grande Prairie Fire Department remains on standby. There is no evacuation centre in the city.
