The wildfire hazard in the Grande Prairie Forest Protection Area is back up to Very High.
A wildfire burning just less than half a hectare sparked up 1.5 kilometres northeast of the Norbord mill Monday, but it’s already listed as under control. Work fighting it will continue Tuesday with firefighters, heavy equipment and helicopters.
A fire advisory remains in effect for the region, and the County of Grande Prairie has also entered into a fire advisory due to extreme dry conditions. Any residents who have existing burn permits are asked not to use them and no new permits will be issued.
