GPRC Cross Country Runner receives Academic All-Canadian award

A Grande Prairie Regional College student has received an award for excelling in both athletics and academics. Cross Country runner Jamie Wigmore has received a 2015/216 Academic All-Canadian award from the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association. The award is the highest CCAA honour available for collegiate student-athletes in Canada. Wigmore is one of 155 recipients of this year’s award with this the only award given at the GPRC this year.

Wigmore more recently took first place in the women’s category at the 2015 Running Room ACAC Cross Country Running Championships hosted by Lethbridge College. She also clocked 18:43 in the women’s 5k race at Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association’s Cross-Country Championships in Brockville, Ontario on November 14th which had her getting silver.

The CCAA Academic All-Canadian Recognition Award is given to the institution with the most student-athlete award recipients with this year’s going to Holland college in PEI.
