Firefighters and children raise money for Canadian Cancer Society

Over $3700 raised and twelve heads with a little less hair after a fundraiser last weekend. A head shaving event at the Pete Eagar Fire station happened over Saturday March 12th to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society.

There were 9 firefighters at the event along with 2 elementary school students from Grande Prairie and a young girl from Ridgevalley. The young girl got her ponytail snipped to donate and the rest of the participants had their heads shaved. One of the young boys raised one thousand dollars of the funds while three others were responsible for raising close to half the money.

Basics closed down their hair salon for the day to help with the event and any money raised from buzz-cuts was donated back to the Canadian Cancer Society.
