Team Alberta North golden at Arctic Winter Games snowboarding

Team Alberta North has received five medals so far at the Arctic Winter Games 2016. All five are in the the Snowboarding Slalom category. Grande Prairie’s Kendyl Hotte received a gold medal in Slalom Juvenile Female and the Swan City’s Karli Gordon got the bronze in that same category. Gavin Sorg received gold in the Juvenile Male category.

In the Snowboard Slalom Junior Female category, Fort McMurray’s Alex McKinnon won the gold and Grande Prairie’s Serena Houle got the silver.

The AWG are being held in Nuuk Greenland this week and run until Friday March 11th, 2016.

Snowboarding competitions at the Arctic Winter Games consists of four events. They are banked slalom, slopestyle, boardercross, and half-pipe. The competition also includes combined individual ranking, making a combined total of 20 gold medals to be awarded in four classes. The four categories are junior and juvenile, male and female.
