Team Alberta North off to Greenland

88 athletes, coaches, and mission staff from the city of Grande Prairie are headed to Nuuk, Greenland. The 2016 Arctic Winter Games are being hosted there and start this Friday continuing to the 12th There are 34 Alberta communities representing Team Alberta North. Along with the Swan City athletes, there are also athletes from surrounding areas in the Peace Region like Sexsmith and Wembley going.

There will be 13 different sports that Alberta will compete in like badminton to table tennis and cross country skiing to snowboarding. The Arctic Winter Games are known as the “Friendly Games” for their effort in joining competition with culture. In addition to Team Alberta North, Greenland, Northern Scandinavia, North West Territories, Nunavik, Nunavut, Yamal, Alaska and Yukon are some of the places involved in the international sport festival.
