Alberta flu deaths up to 13

After only 10 deaths reported due to flu in February, the total has gone up by three after the month has wrapped up. One of the deaths has been reported in the north zone. Senior Media Relations Adviser Kerry Williamson says the person was between the age of 18 and 64 and had not received the influenza immunization. He adds that the person had died of influenza A H1N1 strain.

Since the middle of February, the amount of confirmed flu cases has doubled from 154 for Influenza A to 310 cases and 15 Influenza B cases has been doubled to 31. AHS says the best way to combat the flu is by getting your flu shot.

There has been more than one million people in Alberta who have received their shot this year.
