Grande Prairie Catholic School District has approved it’s 2014-15 budget. Superintendent Karl Germann says the 52 million dollar budget includes the addition of 12 new full time teachers.
“We had an increase in our student population, and that results in an increased need for teachers.  We are also expecting an increase in students coming into the district this fall as well, and so we are trying to put those pieces into place well before the kids come.”
Germann adds if their student population had remained the same over the last two years, they would have seen a two million dollar decrease in revenues over that time, which would have resulted in a decline in services.
