Two charged after traffic stop goes awry

Two people have been charged after trying to drive away from a traffic stop Friday night. The man and woman were found in a parked car near Poplar Drive around 7:20 p.m.

As an officer spoke to the man in the driver’s seat, he tried to drive away, hitting a parked car and a tree in the meantime. He also just narrowly missed hitting another mountie, and police struggled to arrest him. The woman ran away but was found later.

22 year old Chancler Derek Elliott of Saskatchewan is facing several charges, including possession of property obtained by crime, resisting and assaulting a police officer and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. 22 year old Jasmine Eleanor Sanders was also charged with three counts related to possession of property obtained by crime.
