City crews begin annual traffic signal maintenance program

The City of Grande Prairie began its annual traffic signal maintenance program on Sunday.

The city says that in the coming months, city crews will be conducting: traffic signal pole replacements, cabinet replacements and full rehabilitation of traffic signal infrastructure.

The work will take place along arterial roadways, traffic is expected to remain open in all directions, however, temporary lane closures may be required while crews are on site.

According to the city, some activities affecting the normal operation of traffic signals will be scheduled during off-peak hours to help reduce impacts to motorists.

Drivers are asked to watch for crews, construction signage and temporary traffic controls and to proceed with caution through active work areas.

Work schedules are subject to change based on weather.

The program is expected to continue through the end of November.

A full list of planned locations can be found on the city’s website.
